When my pal and I first purchased the house, my spouse and I were aware that the roof was reaching the end of its lifespan.

However, a long list of cabin repairs and renovations took precedence. The water heating system burst and flooded the basement. A corroded pipe leaked and caused water disfigurement to the ceiling in the kitchen. My pal and I replaced most of the major appliances, added gutters to the exterior and tore out the seasoned shag carpeting, but eventually, my pal and I needed to run around with buckets to catch the drips during every major rainstorm. The following morning, we’d find stray shingles in the lawn. My pal and I knew the leaking roof was going to lead to major structural disfigurement if not repaired. Because so various layers of roofs had been added over the years, it was necessary to tear everything down to the bare studs. My pal and I hired a roofing business who completed the project during the month of June. It wasn’t possible to run the cooling system. The outside temperature constantly climbed into the high eighties. The home felt boiling and there were troubles with dust, debris and bugs. When the roofing business finally packed up and left, I figured the cooling system would take a full morning to lower the indoor temperature. I was surprised when every room felt perfectly comfortable within a couple of hours. The current roof has undoubtedly tightened up the thermal envelope and improved the efficiency of the home. Over the course of the following winter, I noticed a significant difference in the performance of the heater. The money we’re saving on our weekly energy costs is going to help to pay for the cost of the current roof.
