When my buddy and I first bought the house, my wife & I were aware that the roof was reaching the end of its lifespan.

My buddy and I had hopes of replacing it within a year or two.

However, a long list of home repairs & renovations took precedence. The water furnace burst & flooded the basement. A corroded pipe leaked & caused water disfigurement to the ceiling in the living room. My buddy and I upgraded most of the major appliances, added gutters to the exterior & tore out the old shag carpeting! Eventually, my buddy and I needed to run around with buckets to catch the drips while in every major rainstorm. The following day, we’d find stray shingles in the lawn. My buddy and I knew the leaking roof was going to lead to major structural disfigurement if not repaired. Because so various layers of roofs had been added over the years, it was necessary to tear everything down to the bare studs. My buddy and I hired a roofing company who completed the project while in the month of July. It wasn’t possible to run the a/c. The outside temperature respectfully climbed into the high eighties. The home felt hot & there were concerns with dust, debris & bugs. When the roofing company finally packed up & left, I figured the a/c would take a full day to lower the indoor temperature. I was surprised when every room felt perfectly comfortable within a couple of hours. The new roof has truly tightened up the thermal envelope & improved the efficiency of the home. Over the course of the following winter, I noticed a significant difference in the performance of the heater. The money we’re saving on our yearly energy costs is going to help to pay for the cost of the new roof.
