When I was getting ready to sell my house, I wanted to sell it as is.

My realtor told me she didn’t think anyone was going to buy a house that needed a new roof, new plumbing and updated electrical, even if it was as is. I either had to do the repairs before putting the house on the market, or drastically reduce the price. I didn’t want to lower my price. I had done my due diligence about what houses were going for in my area. I thought I was being cheated. She told me I could ask a higher price if I had the roof replaced, at the very least. I didn’t want to do any repairs. I knew what a new roof cost. That was why I was going to dump the house on someone and let them handle the roofing, plumbing, and electrical problems. She refused to list my house unless I drop the price almost in half or did the repairs. I called another realtor and when he asked what I wanted for the house; he laughed. He told me he knew it needed a new roof. The realtor commented on the old plumbing and electrical system. He pointed out where I also had a termite problem. I told him there had to be a realtor who would list my house at my price, and not worry about the roof replacement, or other problems. He said there were no realtors who were reputable that would want to screw over a customer this badly. They could lose their realtor’s license and get a big fine.
