I work in an office building that’s shared by several different companies.

We’re each on a different floor, and our signs are plainly posted in the lobby downstairs.

We all share various amenities like bathrooms and a large kitchen. Thankfully, all of the companies tend to get along. I even like to speak to some of the employees at the other companies when I’m outside on my lunch break. There’s a large patio area downstairs that we all share when we want to eat lunch outside. It’s nice to have a place like that outside where we can all congregate together. I even got a date once from an employee from one of the sister companies in the building. The only thing that I don’t like about this building is the fact that we share essentially the same air conditioner. The whole conditioning system has been really cold lately. I was told that the air conditioner was recently serviced and maintained and thus is now working better than before. Although their version of better is my version of being too cold. So I have to wear warm clothing at work or I start shivering at my desk. I’m not allowed to use a space heater at my desk because of the electricity. I’m sure they’re worried about the fire risk with a space heater as well. I wish that each company had its own HVAC system in the building, but I know that’s not the most cost-effective or easy way to go about doing things. If it was my decision, I would just run the air conditioner at a higher temperature. I’ve seen other employees at our company cold during the work day. I know I’m definitely not the only one.
