My dad has been living alone and by himself since my mom passed away in 2010. I thought that my dad was doing well, but I got a call from a social worker a couple of weeks ago. The social worker was calling because my dad went to the hospital. While my dad was in the hospital, a social worker went to look at his place. They realized that my dad was not taking care of himself. They would not let my dad go back to his home and I was called to come to the hospital. My dad told the social worker that he did not need any help, but the social worker had lots of pictures of my dad’s place and they seemed to tell an entirely different story. I talked to my wife about my dad and the condition of the house. Both of us decided that he should come and live with us. We have plenty of room in our home to make my dad comfortable. He’s not very happy about the decision, but the social worker said my dad has to go to a home or live with someone else. We’re doing everything possible to make sure that the house and room is comfortable for my dad. We bought a small portable air conditioner to keep the room cool and cozy during the summer months. It’s getting close to Summer now and I know my dad does not like the heat and humidity. The portable air conditioner has a dehumidifier function which will help make my dad more than comfortable.
