During the year, it is important to have a full system maintenance check up on your HVAC equipment.

The heating and air conditioning system has to work hard during the year and regular maintenance can help prevent costly repairs in the future.

All maintenance service checkups include a few basic services. The service technician should change the air filter. Problems with the air filter can restrict airflow and reduce the efficiency of your heating and cooling equipment. Filter should be replaced every 3 months or more frequently if you live in a home with pets. During the maintenance appointment, the AC technician usually cleans the outside unit to make sure there are no leaves, sticks, or dirt that is impeding the system. The service technician checks all of the safety features on the machine, which include the carbon monoxide detector and the smoke detector. The tech checks the thermostat for accuracy and the guy usually views the ductwork too. A couple of years ago, I had some issues with the ductwork and the ventilation system needed to be cleaned, sanitized, and sealed. Since then, I’ve been able to save money each month on costly electric bills. Some regular maintenance tasks can be performed by homeowners, but I prefer to call the local HVAC company to perform a comprehensive and full system inspection. I know they won’t miss anything at all and I’m not so sure that I would be able to tell if there was a problem or not. It seems best to have this type of work performed by a knowledgeable and skilled professional with training in heating and AC repairs and installation work.
