My parents cherish condo service and renovation projects and at some point, they both started a company of making fixer-upper homes livable for their new owners.
I opted to join their company during my gap year as I tried to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life and they assigned me the job of finding cooling and heating equipment.
My first encounter with an electric furnace was when my associate and I did an old condo where the new owners wanted to do away with the propane boiler and install an electric heat pump. It sounded exotic to me because our condo uses a central Heating and A/C. My first job was to go to the Heating and A/C serviceman company in neighborhood and find an Heating and A/C specialist to guide me through the best electric Heating and A/C as specified by the expert from the diverse component provided under the Heating and A/C products for sale, but at first, I wasn’t meant to catch all the details about it but to find out the cost of each plus the replacement expenses and the features it came with. I went back with a catalog and the suggestion to include the heating professional in the final meeting with the customer before deciding on what to buy for the house. The professional would be well versed with energy-saving tips and details of the pros and cons of each available piece of component and its compatibility with the house. I remember our customer wanted a heat pump replacement because they had been told it was an energy saver, with minimal boiler service demands. It also came with an HEPA filter and wireless temperature control which would save them additional component costs; By the end of the project, they were triumphant with everything including the Heating and A/C.
