I don’t have a lot of money, but whenever I had a few dollars left over at the end of the month, I put it in an interest-bearing account to go toward my new AC unit.

I finally realized I had almost enough money to make the purchase.

It only took three years to save the money, but I was excited. I called the HVAC company and asked them to send someone out to help me decide which AC unit I needed. I told him I wanted an AC unit with a high efficiency rating. I didn’t want to waste money on my energy bills. I knew what my mom and dad paid for their energy bills when the AC unit was running. I couldn’t afford to pay that much money, so it had to be energy efficient. I was getting a dog, so I also needed an AC unit that would keep the odor and dander of the dog out of the air. The technician told me I needed an air purification system if I wanted to remove dander and odors. My air conditioning unit could remove the humidity and keep the house cool, but it wasn’t an air purifier. He talked to me about the air purifier and said it would help with allergies, and to keep the house cleaner, because it took care of dust, mold, and mildew. As much as I wanted to buy it, I knew I couldn’t afford it. The air conditioning unit was so much more than I had saved, I wasn’t sure I could afford it, let alone an air purification system.
