Last summer, I moved out of my boyfriend’s place after we parted ways.

We had been together for two years, and he taught me a lot about self-care and home improvement.

Amongst the things I learned how to do myself is to check whether all equipment and appliances work properly. That knowledge has helped to date. Although we had differences, I appreciate him passing on this knowledge to me. Now, I try to do the same with my siblings, but they are not really keen on learning much. Why don’t you just call an HVAC technician, they say? Well, this time around, I couldn’t do so because I had to spend weeks in the hospital nursing a broken limb. My HVAC equipment was not in bad condition, but missing a regular home service drove me up the wall. I could have asked one of my siblings to supervise the HVAC professional, but I’d instead do that alone. Since they are not keen on what whole-home air purification is all about, they couldn’t understand how someone should handle an air purification system and its impact on indoor air quality. My siblings believe a smart HVAC should be smart enough to clean itself and self-repair. Here I was, contemplating how bad my air quality would be by the time I was back home. But not to worry, I talked to my guy well in advance and asked him to create time for me once I am discharged so that he can come to provide some air purification help. Without duct cleaning or air purification, I wouldn’t use my HVAC or rely on the air filter to let through good enough clean air.
