We are riding out the last of the intense weather right about now, from November into May, Ed and I cherish some actually beautiful weather in these hills.
Winter season is perhaps my number one fave, because the uneven temps are just about perfect! However, there are times here plus there when the heating pump has to kick on with a bit of heating.
But by plus large, the winter season plus early Springtime supply the most gorgeous and spectacular weather you could ever ask for. Soon however, the Summer heat and humidity will be upon us plus that means retreating indoors for the peak heating hours of the afternoon. Most of us are spending those hours inside the commercial Heating as well as Air Conditioning at work or the university. For me, I work from my home so I have to be on top of the thermostat setting while in the Summer. Left alone, the air conditioning costs can really get away from you. That’s why I make sure that I am paying close attention to the air conditioning all the time. The Springtime is for getting accustomed to rising uneven temps so I leave the heat pump off most of the time. But there are times while in the peak heating hours where I need to supply a blast of cooling to the house! When the Summer heat arrives in June, I get to reprogram the digital thermostat to make sure that I’m not over cooling the house. I generally keep the thermostat around 15 degrees cooler than the outside temperature while in peak heating hours. It’s not so bad as long as I have the fans on me. And Ed and I cool the apartment down nicely to the mid 72’s for sleeping in the evening. But I’m very aware of just where the thermostat is set.
