This Spring, I said so long to the local gym. And it’s not because a new one opened with a better price or anything like that. No, I live in small town where there aren’t many options for working out. So since I moved here I’ve dealt with the local gym and it’s antiquated commercial HVAC equipment. I’ve been the sort of person who has pretty much always been a member of a gym. Fitness has been an important component of my life since I was in highschool. Wow, I remember that gym in my highschool. It was pretty awful with nothing but a big industrial fan for cooling. And it was always so full of people that I was never all that comfortable with it. So I started joining commercial gyms when I was in college. Since then, I’ve enjoyed great experiences up until I moved here for a job. I’m enjoying the job but this office is in a very rural area which has come with lots of adjustments. To that end, that gym has been my only fitness option until now. I handed in my locker key and didn’t renew the gym membership and it was all because I couldn’t deal with another Summer of suffocation heat in the gym. The commercial HVAC equipment still wasn’t replaced so I’m doing a gym in my basement. But I made sure that air conditioning was a priority by having a ductless heat pump installed. Gathering the equipment was a lot easier than I thought. And I was able to get so much of the stuff so cheap and barely even used. But the ductless heat pump is certainly the star of my home gym and I’m actually looking forward to Summer.
