So this weekend, I called the annual family meeting to get everyone on the same page again when it comes to air conditioning this house. I know that this induces plenty of eye rolling from my wife and kids. They really don’t see the big deal when it comes to yanking the thermostat setting around as they please. But they are also not the ones who pay the utility bills. This meeting is one where I am quite transparent about the costs of air conditioning our home. Look, I’m super happy to be able to provide a great house with awesome central air conditioning for my family. There is no doubt that those four people are the center of my life. And they are the motivation for me to get up and get myself back inside the commercial HVAC of the office every day. Still, I need some help when it comes to not over paying for cooling during the Summer. And with our Summer, that tends to be quite the project. Hence the meeting to once again commit to thermostat discipline and keeping a tight seal on the house. Along with pulling the shades to stop direct sunlight heating, this is all I’m asking of the family. So I bring out the bills from last Summer and we go over where we did well and where we can improve. I’ve already had the air conditioning tune up done on the heat pump. And the house has been prepared so we are ready to go for Summer as long as we all stay on the same page when it comes to air conditioning.
