Making plans and trying to plot the way forward is what most of us do in our daily lives.

But that doesn’t mean things always go according to plan.

Another aspect that I think we all share. It’s how you deal with plans being abruptly changed that makes all the difference, at least to me. I’ve always been one who leans a bit toward being a control freak. I like to know what to expect whether it’s inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office or the central air conditioning of my house. I like to know what’s happening. And that has led me to be a bit crazy when things don’t go according to my plans. This sort of reaction normally comes with way too much stress and frustration. This is something that I’m trying to avoid as much as possible these days. Life is too short to lose it every time something doesn’t go according to plan. But when I was told that the company wanted me to move to an office up north, I was caught completely off guard. We had just finished the renovations to our home. There was finally the residential HVAC equipment that I had wanted for such a long time. It came with perfect central air conditioning as well as the complete complement of HVAC technology. We had just gotten our house just the way we wanted and now we were expected to move? I tried really hard to be calm and process this news. My wife was the one who pointed out the positives and she noted that having new HVAC equipment would be a big plus in selling our home. That helped me get on board with yet more change.
