My wife and I have been looking for a house to buy for the last year and a half straight. Because we don’t want to settle with something that isn’t going to meet our expectations, we’re waiting to find the best fit for us. My wife wants a bigger house, while I would prefer to just have one that feels comfortable and pleasant. She grew up in apartments her entire life and always wanted to live in a home that was big enough to house a family of six. We really had to sit down and talk about what we wanted and we ended up having to come to a compromise on the size. However, there were a few things that we definitely agreed upon. We wanted to live in the countryside, and we also wanted to live in a house with a fireplace. It was important to us living in a cold environment to have a supplemental heating source that doesn’t require gas, oil, or electricity. We managed to find a house with a fireplace in it, but there wasn’t any land behind it with trees that we could cut down or harvest from the ground. What happens is trees die and they fall and then once they’ve dried out enough you can use the tree trunks for firewood. And we’re hoping we can find a house that has a fireplace and lots of trees behind it for firewood. I’m confident that we will eventually find the type of property that we’re looking for, we just have to be patient and keep our eyes open.
