Living in an upstairs house is not exactly what Steve wanted to have growing up.

He is pushing 40 years old and he is single but cannot easily do much when he has neighbors that live below him.

If Steve makes too much noise, steps on the wrong floor boards or invites his friends, they will either call the property owner, beat on the ceiling or call the cops. They are bad and he tries to be nice to them. But they just look at him in disgust, like he is not worthy of their presence. It doesn’t matter anyways. The greatest thing about them living below him is that heat rises. The temperature they have their thermostat set at is ideal for his liking. It does not matter if it’s summer time or winter, the air conditioner or the oil furnace settings are perfect. Steve never turns on his electric furnace so his heating and cooling bills are low all year round. He will never tell them that they are basically paying to keep him hot or cool. So Steve believes he has that going for him. He is sure if they ever found out about that they’d freak out and demand the property owner to put in extra insulation. Still, it’s tough to get friends to come over. He thought about getting a pet but he figured they’d yell every afternoon about that. So most days he is not here unless he is sleeping or doesn’t want to go out and eat. A friend asked him to move in but Steve still loves his space and privacy. Regardless, he is going to enjoy the heating and cooling that they provide.
