Moving south was a sizable change for my wife & I, my buddy and I were accustomed to sub-zero conditions, an excess of snow accumulation & relying on the furnace for about eight months of the year.

My buddy and I required snow shovels, rock salt & ice scrapers; Our wardrobes consisted mainly of heavy jackets.

My buddy and I bought a home equipped with central a/c & no heater, and the temperature in our new location frequently soars into the triple digits. Our utility bills are still a concern however for opposite reasons. Instead of running the furnace for the majority of the year, my buddy and I depend on the a/c, up north, my buddy and I had concerns with overly dry air & needed to operate a whole-home humidifier. The first summer time my buddy and I spent in our new home, my buddy and I kept lowering the temperature control & struggling with an unpleasant sticky feeling. There was condensate running down the windows & concerns with mold & mildew growth. I finally realized that my buddy and I needed to install a whole-home dehumidifier to unlink the excess moisture. The a/c is designed to unlink heat from the air, not humidity. The dehumidifier allows us to adjust humidity percentages to our preference. The air feels cooler at higher temperatures & allows us to raise the temperature control setting. There’s less demand on the a/c, & we’ve considerably lowered our yearly expenses, then because of the dehumidifier the cooling unit should last longer, however plus, my buddy and I have fewer complaints with sneezing, coughing & headaches. My buddy and I feel more productive while in the day & sleep better at night. The dehumidifier was a great investment that requires only yearly repair & operates quietly.
