I have been working in a hospital for all of my adult life.
When I was a little girl I spent a good deal of time in hospitals as well, and i was always getting sick as a child and as a result I spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital.
I feel you could say that being sick as a child inspired me to go into the field. I always knew that I wanted to be a doctor and I knew that it would be strenuous work to finally be in a hospital in a work other than a patient. I studied entirely strenuous and graduated at the top of my class, I was entirely proud of myself! Growing up in and out of the hospital, I already knew how freezing it was going to be to work in this kind of environment all the time. I get freezing entirely easily so from the beginning of my training I was already mentally preparing myself for the freezing temperatures of the hospital. A hospital is required to keep the air conditioner set to a certain temperature so that it does not have the ability for infections to grow, many times when the heater is going a mold and mildew and start to form. Having a freezing space is better for the hospital environment and I knew that it would be a annually struggle to keep warm. I knew that the Heating and Air Conditioning controls were set by the hospital administration and that the staff was under no circumstances allowed to touch them!
