I try to plan a fun and education trip for my family every summer. I have four kids and they can get a little stir crazy if they are cooped up in the house all day long. So, this summer I have decided to take them to a historical village that mimics life the way it was in the 1800s. This means we will go fishing for our food, make our own supplies and live without a heating and cooling system. I know my kids aren’t going to be happy about not having central a/c for a couple of days, but I think it will be a good lesson for them. I don’t want them to grow up spoiled and think everyone is lucky enough to have a heating and cooling system in their home. When we first got to the village they didn’t even notice that their wasn’t a/c. However, after spending a long day outside working and playing they were ready to come home to the air conditioner. When they realized our cabin didn’t have any a/c they were not thrilled. They complained and said they were ready to go back home. I told them we were going to stick it out and that they would appreciate having a working air conditioner even more when we got back home. I knew they were going to have this reaction, but I wanted them to see how good they had it. The minute we got home from our trip they all ran and sat under the air conditioner vent for hours.
