My girlfriend and I moved into a new apartment a couple of months ago.
Things were going really well until last week when there was an issue with the AC unit.
My girlfriend and I came home from the mall and realized that the carpet in front of the AC unit was completely soaked with water. Temperatures inside of the house continued to get warmer and warmer. I contacted the maintenance supervisor to get someone up to the apartment to fix the AC unit and remove the water from the carpet. The mess was exhausting to clean up and the problem with the AC unit could not be fixed right away. The AC unit was frozen. When the ice from the coils started to melt, it made a huge mess on the floor. The maintenance supervisor couldn’t figure out how to get the AC unit to work again, so the guy had to schedule an appointment with a local repair service for the next day. We had to go without AC until the morning. My girlfriend and I fought all night long because she was miserable and hot. We argued about everything under the sun and she brought up things from months ago. The problem with the air conditioner made me realize that my girlfriend and I are not ready to get married. We still need to learn how to effectively communicate with each other. Stressful situations are going to come up all the time if we have children and I want to make sure that we are both prepared for kids.
