I love the fact that the gas furnace hasn’t kicked on in like four consecutive days.

At least I don’t think it has.

I sleep pretty sound so the gas furnace may have popped on for a bit during the wee hours of the morning. The lows have been in the upper 40’s which is music to my ears. I think we are officially done with Winter. There is always the possibility of getting whacked with another rouge cold front before we are completely out of the woods. But I’ll be calling for the air conditioning tune up this week. Actually, this Winter was the best one we’ve had since moving up here. I think part of that it getting a bit more acclimated to the severity of this sort of Winter. It took me a few years just to get over the shock of how cold and raw the weather can be up here. Little by little, I’ve learned how to prepare for Winter and make things a bit better inside my home. Last Winter, I got a rude awakening that has since changed how I go about preparing for the Winter season. During one of the coldest nights of the year, our gas furnace stopped working. It just quit with an audible thud. I tried in vain to get the HVAC unit to start up again. There was no waiting until morning because it was just so bitterly cold outside. So I called for emergency HVAC service and that cost me plenty. The HVAC technician told me that if I had gotten heating maintenance done prior to the Winter, this problem would have been caught. So now, I’m a true believer when it comes to seasonal HVAC maintenance.
