I was so exhausted it was a miracle I was still standing.

The night shifts were taking a toll on me, but I could do nothing about it.

My eight-year-old was drawing and coloring things that dashed my hopes of her ever taking the footsteps of Picasso; so much for those millions and my only chance to be someone’s muse. I could feel an oncoming headache. It wasn’t long before I started fanning myself. It took a while for me to notice that temperatures were too high for comfort. I tried resetting the thermostat, but that didn’t work. When I tried to restart the electric heat pump, it completely shut down. At this point, I was having a full-blown headache. I called the cooling corporation and crossed my fingers. The person I talked to told me that all their cooling technicians were tied up for the day unless we could wait till the next day. I called another local service provider, and by a stroke of luck, they confirmed that a cooling specialist would be available to provide quality AC service by noon. At the appointed time, the HVAC contractor came to fix the electric heat pump. He found the problem within the HVAC installation, and it took him a little longer than I anticipated. When he was done, our climate control system was running optimally, and the noise I had gotten accustomed to had disappeared entirely. I was glad I did not have to purchase new cooling equipment to help with indoor comfort. I was happy with my cooling unit’s services from the HVAC business, and I generously tipped the serviceman.
