I’m not all that hot about how much I depend on technology.

It’s just absolutely ubiquitous in my home and inside the commercial HVAC of the office.

I can’t get away from it. I’m in my mid 50’s so it’s not like I grew up with a computer attached to my arms. In fact, I was so completely uninterested in anything that had to do with computers back then. Perhaps that’s why I struggle now so much. Using technology is not exactly intuitive for me. But more and more, there are technology additions to my life that are actually easy for me. It’s not like the learning curve that seems never ending inside the zone controlled HVAC of work. There, I have to constantly ask questions and get tutoring sessions. At home, it’s been a bit better now that some of the technology is just so easy to use. The HVAC technology in my home is a great example. We now have a smart thermostat that takes care of the heating and cooling. I no longer have to be all over the thermostat in order to keep the air conditioning costs down. The smart thermostat does a better job than I could ever do at that. And when it comes to my HVAC chores like changing the air filter or calling for HVAC maintenance, I have alerts set on my phone. Actually, this has been super helpful when it comes to being on top of caring for the heat pump. Yet, I’m also always caught off guard a bit when I hear these alarms go off. I’m always thinking that something bad has happened. But it’s just time to change the air filter on the HVAC equipment.
