I’m not a fan of living in an apartment but it sure beats living on campus at college.
The price for a dorm for 6 months was twice as much money as the nicest studio apartment in my city.
It made all the sense in the world to me at the time to get off campus and live in an apartment and save money. The only tricky thing was finding an apartment that was close enough to campus where I wouldn’t have to utilize a car to get to class every day. I didn’t have a car at the time and only had a bike. I was hoping I could get an apartment within biking distance of campus and that’s exactly what I did. It’s a fairly decent apartment too, especially for my first apartment. My parents have told me that they had much more rundown apartments when they were renting for the first time. On top of it, my apartment got a brand new air conditioner this year. I moved in last year and I remember the landlord telling me about the air conditioner replacements that would be happening within the next 12 months. It’s really nice being in an apartment that has such a clean air system in it. That way I don’t have to worry about my respiratory problems coming back and haunting me. And now that the new air conditioner is finally installed, I’m noticing that I don’t have to use nearly as much electricity to run it throughout the day. So that way I have cleaner air and also a lower energy bill.
